Sexual Health – STD/STI Testing

Pregnancy is not the only thing to be concerned about after having sex. STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) and STIs (sexually transmitted infections) are common. Some can be cured. Some cannot. Many have lifelong effects.

The HOPE Center offers STD testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. Contact us today for an appointment – 770.924.0864 or 800-395-4357. The HOPE Center does not provide general medical care or emergency services. If you are experiencing acute pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, a fever, or any potentially life threatening illness, you should go to an emergency room immediately.

Who does The HOPE Center see for testing?
The HOPE Center tests only females at this time. We refer male partners to a physician or to the local Health Department.

Do I have to pay anything for testing?
No, the testing is free for you. However, we do require all of our STD/STI testing clients to take part in an STD/STI education session with a health professional as part of the screening process. Set aside about an hour for your appointment.

How does The HOPE Center test for STDs/STIs?
The Chlamydia and Gonorrhea tests are done by taking a urine sample.

How long does it take to get results back?
The results will take anywhere between a week and two weeks as they are processed by an external laboratory. Also, to receive your results, you will need to come back in person for your follow-up appointment. We do not provide results over the phone or by email.

Does The HOPE Center provide treatment for STDs/STIs?
The HOPE Center does not provide treatment for STDs/STIs. We will facilitate your referral to a physician or to the local Health Department.

Who should be tested for STDs?
According to the CDC, women need to consider testing if they are sexually active and/or are pregnant. Visit the CDC to see a chart of their recommendations on who should be tested and for what disease.
